Things to do in 2020 for Better Mental Health

Mental health is the most important factor we should start taking care of. More than just a fancy word that is being used all over social media, it is the complete well-being of your mind and emotions. It is important how you feel about yourself, how you deal with your emotions, how you take care of yourself and how you act upon it and that’s what mental health is all about.

Even if this sounds very easy and regular, most of us ignore it. Having good mental health can do wonders in your overall life, like improving your performance, saving you from chronic physical illnesses like a heart attack which somehow associated with mental health problems.  Let’s pledge to have the upcoming year 2020 with better mental health in the following ways.

1. Journaling

It is not always possible to pour your heart out unless you have someone to talk to. In this case, you can always opt for journaling. Writing down everything you feel is always better than keeping it inside you. If you are not sure what to journal for, start with the gratitude and then add topics one by one as you feel familiar with the process. With this practice, you will develop a better relationship with yourself.

2. Balanced Diet

Eating well is surely linked with your physical health, but do you know that it has an impact on your mental well-being too? A few studies proved that people who consume more fruits and vegetables have better mental health. There is no clear reason available for this but as per reports, Vitamins in our body can benefit the enzymes that allow reactions like the synthesis of serotonin, the happiness hormone. Eating less junk food can balance your mental health.

3. Relationships

Are you in any kind of toxic relationship? Is there any person who is are closely related to but he/she affect your mental health a lot? If yes, it’s high time that you should start keeping a distance from such people. If you are holding a grudge of some quarrel/ breakup, let things go and just forgive.

If you are having some trouble with family members, talk it out. Open us and get every bitter thought out of you. You will feel relieved and It will boost your mental health.

4. Exercise

To have better mental health you should always take care of your physical health. When you exercise, your body releases mood-boosting endorphins. Hence, exercise is a great tool to deal with mental health issues like anxiety and stress. Even if you give 30 minutes of your day for any physical activity, you will see the better side of your mental health.

5. Take a break

Ask yourself when did you take the break from your regular routine. It is not always necessary to take big breaks because even small breaks can make a big difference.  When you feel stressed, overwhelmed or anxious, step away and try to calm yourself down with deep breaths.

If you are exhausted from what you are doing regularly, take a vacation and refresh your mood and join the routine again with whole new enthusiasm.

6. Sleep well

Proper sleep is the answer to all the problems. Never compromise with your sleep because if you do, your body may face the hormonal shift and imbalance which is not good at all.

If you are well-rested, your mental health will be in a good state.
