Suicide is Not a Way of Life – Live to the Fullest

Every year mental health organizations and individuals across the U.S. and around the world raise awareness of suicide prevention during September, National Suicide Prevention Month.

Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one’s own death. Committing suicide means an individual has reached his/her optimum capacity of not wanting to continue living; providing reasons that come from a spectrum of burden. This burden which one experiences is a consequence of pain; pain which is propagated mentally – Mental disorders; including depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, and substance abuse.

This time, we wanted to raise our voice too.

It’s heartbreaking to hear news about suicide attempts made by young children and adolescents. Their reasons have been either unspoken or unattended due to suppressed emotions.

Across the incarcerated population in the United States, about 2 people per day die by suicide. That’s every hour, every day, every week. Some suicides are impulsive acts due to stress, such as from financial difficulties, relationship problems such as breakups, or bullying. Those who have previously attempted suicide are at a higher risk for future attempts.

The importance of mental healthcare professionals during this stage play a vital role in bringing forth the action of stopping these attempts.
